Week 01. INTRODUCTION

Week 03. PRESENT THEORIES AND TRENDS
Week 04. LEADERS AND MANAGERS
Week 05. A NEW MODEL OF THE LEADERSHIP PROCESS

INTRODUCTION

Leadership is one of the fascinating topics for the behavioural scientist, psychologists and academics and attempts have been made since the 14th century in finding an explanation to why some people are better leaders than others specially in relation to organizational leadership. This report explores some of the popular leadership theories and present trends and an attempt is then made to differentiate between “Leader” and “Manager” as well as “Leadership” and “Management”. The report then traces the different types of leadership behaviour which provide meaning to work and generate organizational excitement.

On the second part an effort is made to understand the leadership process by analysing the information collected by a questionnaire survey and on case studies on same Australian organizations. A model of an effective leader and the effective leadership process is then proposed and discussed.
